Augmented Reality, or AR, is a technology that displays digital information in real time on top of the user’s real-world environment. By combining virtual data including text, images, 3D models, and audio with the physical world, AR creates an interactive and enriched experience. Unlike Virtual Reality, which transports the user into a completely artificial environment, AR allows users to still see the real world around them while digital interactions occur alongside it.
AR has a wide range of applications, from education and interactive games to marketing and sales, medicine, industrial design, and tourism. For example, educational applications can display 3D information and interactive animations on books, cards, or learning models, creating an engaging and active learning experience. AR technology typically uses smartphone or tablet cameras, as well as dedicated headsets, to place digital data within the real environment.
